Friday 30 the field lights were on, bleachers were full, and baby powder was in the air for the 2022- 23 McNary Homecoming football game.

The McNary Celtic football team was up against the North Salem Vikings. Being tied until the second quarter, the North Salem Vikings won with a 21-7 score. The stands were packed with students, families, and school spirit.

“We could have been better,” said sophomore Davien Cabrera, quarterback for the Junior Varsity football team.

With multiple tackles throughout the night, 11th grader Josh Allen and linebacker for the football team is ready to “Put up a good fight for the rest of the season.”

“It was a well fought game,” Allen said. “We battled until the end.”

About every seat in the student section of McNary’s bleachers was full during the game. Students were waving flags, throwing confetti, and baby powder could be seen in the air.

Cheers and stomps were heard from the crowd in hopes to showcase school spirit, some students believe that more was needed.

“Energy was not quite there,” said senior Savana Brownwell. “ We could be louder.” Even with the Celtics loss Brownwell believes that this was the best football game of the season so far.

“It’s a feeling we haven’t had in a couple of years,” said Principle Jespersen. “Homecoming is just the best, the kids seem positive, awesome, and loud.”
