The newest animated Star Wars show is wonderful, with its animation at its best looking better than the Bad Batch, or season seven of the Clone Wars show, but it was not what I was expecting and can even be disappointing or surprising at times.

Without sharing too much, the stories feel disconnected, like they were meant to be part of a larger show but were cut off to be its own, separate thing.

They also do not give off the feeling of being friendly to people new to the Star Wars universe, it gives off a vibe where if you haven't watched a substantial amount of previous works, you will not fully understand what is going on.

However, I do not think the stories are bad, they are wonderfully written and are great for what they are, they add on to the already expansive universe of Star Wars, even if it is subtle, this is a show I would not recommend to people new to Star Wars.

The animation and set pieces get my biggest praises, the creators are excellent at giving you a feeling with the perfect blend of lighting and animation, and the show will feel cinematic at times with wide angle views or large sweeps of scenery.

The combat in the show, while somewhat sparse, will often feel sharp, purposeful, yet fluid when it needs to be, like there are genuine people performing them.

Voice acting is important for animated works, if it does not match the vibe of the scene it can completely ruin it, luckily, this show does not have this issue to any major degree; The voice actors do a swell job, you will only notice a clash between mood and voice with side characters most of the time. You will almost never hear this issue with returning voice actors.

My biggest issue is that we focus on two pre-existing characters. It is wonderful to see them again but I feel like these two beloved characters have gotten enough spotlight, especially when one of them is getting their own Television series.
