As students approach the last week of school, they are advised to prepare for each class’s finals starting on Tuesday June 14.

There are many ways students can prepare for finals. The first way is content retention. McNary highschool science teacher Mr. Sean Fujinaga wrote, “ If you can use a notecard/open notes/study guide, prepare it ahead of time.  Setting these materials up at the last minute is a great way to leave out important ideas.”

It is important to get test-ready by being prepared with all materials that students are allowed to bring.Test taking skills are also important, “So much of test taking success is determined by test taking skills,” Fujinaga wrote.

It is important to remember that when students second guess themselves during the test, the first answer is typically correct. Also, students should remember it’s okay to skip over a question they are unsure of and go back to it.

Lastly, it is important for students to remember to relax. “Final exams are always nerve wracking.  You’ve worked hard throughout a semester of school and want to show what you’ve learned.  Don’t try to cram all your studying into one session. Split your studying up with short breaks.  Go for a walk or get some physical activity in before you start to study again.  Remember that regardless of the result, the final is just another test.  You will finish it eventually and life goes on,” Fujinaga wrote.
