On 28 September, 18 AFJROTC cadets from McNary High School spent 3 hours pulling weeds and cleaning the grounds of the courtyard at the newly renovated McNary High School.  For most, this was the first time back on campus since COVID-19 forced students and teachers into distance learning.

Asked about construction improvements to the school that occurred over the summer, Cadet 1st Sergeant Arthur Johnson said “It was great to see how much things have changed”,

and the cadets were more than happy to contribute in bringing the courtyard up to a level representative of the McNary community.  Cadet Lieutenant Jaden Campa said that the work the cadets put in “makes it look like a place where you can actually go and hang out”.  Arthur agreed: “Instead of staring at a wasteland from your classroom, you can actually go outside and enjoy it”.

AFJROTC is a 4-year high school program whose purpose is to educate high school students in leadership roles while making them aware of the benefits of citizenship.
