Athlete Signing

On Wednesday, April 26, 19 of McNary’s student-athletes signed to play at colleges across the country. Approximately 175 friends, family, teachers, and coaches gathered in the gym at 8 a.m. to support the athletes. 

Of the 19 athletes that are playing a sport in college, 17 were in attendance Wednesday morning.

Kaden Donahue will be playing lacrosse at Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Kyler Donahue will be playing lacrosse at Limestone University in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Sydnee Alfano will be playing soccer at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon.

Colby Sullivan will be playing golf at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.

Hunter Ruberto will be playing football at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Lacey Vasas will be playing softball at Linnfield University in McMinnville, Oregon.

Bella Rodriguez will be playing volleyball at Linnfield University in McMinnville, Oregon.

“Playing volleyball has always been a dream of mine since I was young,” Rodriguez said, “The volleyball program, the amazing coach, and the fact that it’s close to home but still far away really drew me to Linfield.”

Brookelynn Jackson will be playing softball at Carroll College in Helena, Montana. 

“Playing softball in college will continue to provide me an outlet,” Jackson said, “Carroll College has a great nursing program, it's in a beautiful state, and I've only heard great things about it.”

Maddie Corpe will be playing volleyball at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon.

Tessa Fisher will be playing soccer at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

Peyton Olafson will be playing soccer at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

Emily Blagg will be playing volleyball at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

Jackson Alt will be playing football at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

Hudson Brunk will be playing soccer at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.

“It’s a cool thing to go to a division one school,” Brunk said, “Having a personal connection with the coach, knowing a couple of the players, and just the beautiful, welcoming campus environment made Gonzaga the right choice.”

Heather Ebner will be playing softball at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington.

Brody Roth will be playing basketball at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.

Anthony Cepeda will be playing baseball at Feather River College in Quincy, California. 

Athletic Director Mr. Scott Gragg, when speaking about the successes of each student-athlete said, “This represents a lot of things. Each [athlete] has a story on how they got to this table, and each story is a little different. But they all have one thing in common: they are all going to receive a High School diploma, and I think that accomplishment is often overlooked.”
