The McNary volleyball team beat the McKay Royal Scots with a 3-0 victory on October 18 here at McNary. This game marked the end of a losing streak that began on September 19, with a 1-3 loss to McKay. They then lost to seven other teams before finally defeating McKay.
Before their victory over McKay, The Celtics best game was against West Salem, even though they suffered a 3-2 loss in their home game against The Titans, on Thursday, October 4.
At the beginning of the October 4 West Salem match up, West Salem took the lead, being up 9-2 early into the game. McNary started coming back later in the game, trailing 15-21 when a timeout was called, but fell behind again and lost the first game, 17-25.
McNary performed better in the second game, the two teams stayed with each other at the beginning going back and forth until they were tied 8-8.
At this point McNary scored several points in a row bringing their lead up to 13-8. They held on to this lead until they were 21-15 at the game’s first timeout.
West Salem started to come back, scoring three points in a row after this, but it was too late little too late and McNary took game two 25-21.
McNary carried this momentum into game three which they won 25-16, the largest point differential of the match.
In game four, West Salem came back to win in a nailbiter with a final score of 25-20.
This sent the two teams into a tie-breaker game to 15. McNary trailed early, being down 13-9 at one point. They managed to come back and keep the game close, but in the end West Salem took the fifth game, 16-14.
