Successful Blood Drive
March 11, 2016 By:Hunter Watson
On March 08, 2016 McNary students volunteered to donate blood. The original goal was to get 92 units. The goal was accomplished and a total of 226 students volunteered to donate; even though not all of them were able to donate blood, our goal was exceeded by 37 units making it a total of 129 units. All of this was possible thanks to Kinsey McNaught. She planned and led the whole event with help of the leadership class.
“The blood drive went very well, we almost doubled our original goal of 92 units. The red cross staff was super impressed with our leadership group, and it was a really rewarding experience” Kinsey McNaught.
Every donor was able to help 3 people in need of blood. Ubaldo Rojas, a senior, has donated blood four times.
He said: “It is nice to know how many people you’ve helped out once you receive the letters of how your blood was useful”.
For others, it had been their very first time donating blood. A Junior, Madison Curtis, donated blood for her first time. She Always wanted to donate blood and was really excited.
“It’s going to a really good cause and I’m able to help a lot of people. I’m glad I can be part of that” she said.
The event was very successful. The Leadership class wants to congratulate and thank everyone who volunteered to donate blood. The American Red Cross was incredibly impressed with the 153 new donors McNary had recruited. McNary is proud to have students that care about others and help the community. It is nice to see students unite for a good cause like donating blood. Thank you for being so generous.
