Lately books have been getting more and more expensive, so McNary High School’s book club decided to do something about it. During the fall conferences, the club gave away books they were collecting throughout the year.
The goal of the drive was to collect books in the community. They were collecting everything except for old textbooks. “Baby books, fiction, non fiction we were taking everything,” said Nolan Bryant, a member of the club.
This was the first time the club has done the drive and they considered it a success. They collected somewhere between 40 and 50 books to give away during conferences.
“Most books now a days are extremely expensive,” Bryant said. The club plans to continue next year. The giveaway is supposed to “Help spread the love of it.”
Bryant joined the club because of his love of books and he enjoys being around like minded people.
Book club is more than just reading books. There is a social aspect to it as well.
The club is considering putting on another drive during the spring conferences.
Book club meets every other Wednesday in the Library after school at 2:30.
