Ron graduated from Butte Public High School in Butte Montana. He received his BA from the University of Montana in Sociology. He also received his Master’s Degree from Western Montana of the University of Montana in Education. After years of teaching and coaching Ron completed the requirements for his Initial Administrators license from the University of Montana and then earned his continuing license from George Fox University. Ron taught Sociology and was the Department Chairman for Health and PE at Butte Public High School. After coaching football at Butte High for 11 years he moved to Montana School of Mines as a football coach (Offensive Coordinator). Ron left secondary school education and took a position as Associate Professor/Head Football Coach at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City South Dakota. He left South Dakota to coach football at the University of Montana. In 2000 Ron decided to retire from football. In 2001 he was appointed Athletic Director/Assistant Principal at McKay High School and in 2010 he moved to the same position at McNary High School and became a Celt. Since leaving football his hobbies are fishing, golf, and spending time with his wife Debbie.
