Rest in peace, Mr. Doug Parker

We are saddened to share that we lost a member of McNary family over the holiday break, Mr. Doug Parker. Mr. Parker was a beloved history and government teacher at McNary. He had been teaching at our school for 15 years until early in November, when he became ill. He also served as an advisor for several school clubs including National Honor Society and Mock Trial. Mr. Parker was known for his great sense of humor and for being an inspiration to his students. One of Doug’s great ideas to build a positive culture at our school was the “staff welcome” for freshman students. Staff line the hallway and cheer the freshman students as they leave the gym and head to the auditorium on the first day of school.
The family had a private celebration of life for Mr. Parker over the break. Students and parents are welcome to leave condolence cards in the main office where they will be delivered Mr. Parker’s family.
