The holidays can be a stressful time for young people. Between the family, the cleaning and travel, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
One of the best things a person can do when they’re feeling stressed is remember to breathe. When the brain lacks oxygen it makes things harder. Taking a moment to breathe can reset the body. Making a conscious effort to take deep breaths before talking will make people evaluate what they’re going to say.
Make a schedule before hand. Things don’t need to be scheduled down to the minute; but, planning out what the week looks like helps make sure things don’t fall through the cracks.
Sitting down on Sunday before break begins and planing a rough outline of everyday can be immensely helpful in relieving stress.
Remember that it’s okay to say no. Saying no to a last minute plan can be good. If there is too many things going on it’s not a bad thing to take a step by and have some “me time.”
Finally, through all the stress and chaos, try to remember that the holidays are a time to be with family and friends. Tell people they’re blessings and make their day.
