Representatives from Keizer and Salem came to McNary today to celebrate the ground-breaking ceremony, commemorating the beginning of the construction McNary will undergo starting this summer.
The ceremony included speeches from Mariah Benitez, next year’s Sophomore Class President, and Griffen Hubbard, next year’s ASB President.
Hubbard said that he and the rest of McNary’s students are excited for the less crowded classrooms this construction will provide, and thanked the community for passing the bond that made it possible. Hubbard acknowledged there will be inconveniences, but said they will be far outweighed by the rewards.
Hubbard expressed his gratitude for the efforts of everyone involved in this enrichment to his and the rest of the Celtics’ education. He said that as McNary’s only high school, these improvements will be beneficial not only to McNary Celtics but to the whole Keizer Community.
Benitez also said she’s excited and can’t wait for the additional classroom space. Benitez said it was important to her that she got input from other students, and while they highlighted some necessary sacrifices, they understood it was all temporary and would be worth it in the end.
Benitez thanked the community and all who supported the bond. She said Celtics will continue to remain grateful for all that is done to continue to support their education.
