McNary Mock Trial Club are one of the new clubs that have started this year. It has been running for a few weeks now, and is preparing to go into the regional competition in February.
Mrs. Mackenzie Delong runs the club, in which a team of students work together in courtroom roles to try a case in a regional competition. “This year, students are preparing for a manslaughter case where someone was killed in a mob rush at a concert.” Delong said.
Delong said, “Mock Trial teaches students the art of trial advocacy, which is a great way to learn skills like critical thinking, presentation skills, public speaking, and teamwork.” The club has quite a few members, such as Ashley Hawley, Jordan Danner, Allison Ricketts, and others.
“People should consider joining Mock Trial to challenge themselves, meet some amazing people, and have a great time,” Delong said.
Although they are deep in preparations for regionals, anyone interested in joining Mock Trial Club should visit Delong in room 262 to join later this year for the next season.
