The Knitting and Crochet club is one of the many clubs here at McNary high school.
The Knitting club is rum by the algebra II teacher Mrs. Mindy Minnick.
The club is on Thursdays at 2:30-3:30, however the hours are flexible.
“Newcomers are absolutely welcome.” said president of the club Avery Haymowicz.
The club will occasionally do group projects such as making hats for preemies at the hospitals in Salem.
The club members will also make squares to donate for a quilt the entire club is knitting, however they generally work on their own projects at club meetings.
The most recent thing the club did was make hats for Hat not Hate back in October of this year. The adviser, Minnick provides materials for newcomers and people that just don’t have things with them.
“Start out easy then move up,” said Samantha Thomas.
Advice for any newcomers or starters for crocheting and knitting is to show up. They ask for patience in not only yourself, but also others that may be teaching you.
The Knitting and Crochet club started four years ago, and was created by Ashley Maciera. The club makes a variety of projects from hats to toys.
Experienced or not, the club is always still looking for more ways to make life fun and interesting.
