The Turkey Dash, a Keizer tradition since 2011, kicked off Thanksgiving day with a run through Keizer Station and the Gubser neighborhoods under overcast skies.
Stephani Logan and Connie Dingeman started this fun run seven years ago with the Chamber of Commerce and has now become a Thanksgiving day favorite with around 300 runners and walkers attending the event.
The Dash every year gives a portion of its proceeds from registration to a non-profit organization. This year it is the United Way – Keizer Kids Resource Backpacks and McNary High Writing Club.
Harrison Vaughn, a senior at McNary loves the race. “Its my 6th time running the race,” Vaughn said.
“I love running and it’s a fun, easy and quick course – plus you get donuts,” he said.
