McNary’s boys soccer team started off their conference half of the season with a 5-1 win over West Salem. The game was played at home on Tuesday, September 25.
Seven minutes into the game, Senior Francisco Rios (#11) scored the first goal, kicking from an angle into the near defenseless goal. Roughly 30 seconds later, his teammate Junior Luis Lopez (#8) scored another goal from just outside the end zone, shooting through a crowd of West players.
McNary held on to this 2-0 lead for the remainder of the first half.
Roughly three and half minutes into the second half, West Salem scored their first and only goal.
With 30 minutes left in the game, Senior Miguel Bravo (#7) bounced the ball off of his chest and into the goal, bringing McNary’s lead up to 3-1. Ten minutes later, his teammate Junior Jack Baez (#17) scored a goal by kicking the ball upwards, causing it to bounce off the top of the goal and barely land inside.
With 13 and a half minutes left in the game, Sophomore Alex Salazar (#19) faked out the West Salem goalkeeper to score the last goal of the game, ending in a 5-1 victory for McNary.
