Celtic Announcements for 10/22/13

The October Student Council meeting is happening today at 8:30 in the Cafeteria.  All 2nd period classes need to send a representative to the meeting to get information on upcoming events and activities, as well as share information about concerns raised in your classes.  All clubs must also send a representative to the meeting to report on current club meeting times and activities.  

 

There will be a pumpkin carving party on October 30th from 2:30-4:30pm in room 261, hosted by the Relay for Life Team.  Come enjoy a movie, soda pop, treats, and carving a pumpkin with friends for only $5.00.  If you bring your own pumpkin it only costs $2.00.  Tools for carving will be provided and clean up will be done for free.  Please sign up outside of Miss Hunt's room by Oct 29th to ensure a pumpkin is ready and waiting for you when you come.  100%of the money raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society.  Come be a "cool ghoul" and carve one up for a cure!

 

Josten’s will be here on Thursday and Friday to collect Senior Order Packets for Caps, Gowns, Announcements and more.  If you want to take advantage of the group pricing make sure to have your packet filled out and ready to drop off during either lunch on Thursday or Friday.  If you are interested in ordering a class ring you will be able to do so at this time as well.  

Salem-Keizer College Fair 2013 is happening

 

Learn about careers and colleges that provide career training. Representatives from colleges, universities, trade/career schools, and the military on hand to answer questions. Students and parents welcome.  There will be Sessions on Financial Aid, Scholarship, and OSAC

The event is this Thursday, October 23, at Chemeketa Community College, Building 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM admission is Free!

For all those interested in being in McNary's Speech and Debate club, there is a mandatory meeting Wednesday Oct. 23rd in room 142 at 2:30. If you can't make it on that date but would still like to be in the club, contact Mrs. Reid, Kyra Lehman, or Jedidiah Hunter. We will be planning our upcoming competition, so it is imperative that you all be there! Treats will be involved.

 

The AWARE Club is meeting TODAY after school in room 156.  Come be a driving force to stop HUMAN TRAFFICKING.  Come to room 156 and join the team to keep our community safe.

 

ASL club will be having their first meeting Thursday in room 208 from  2:30 to 3:15 . come and learn the basics of american sign language and help the club gain membership and come up with some great activities for the year.  

 

Do you dig writing? The Write Club, led by Eric Howald of Keizertimes, has its next meeting of the year this Thursday in Ms. Stefani's room--that's room 137. Drop by at 2:30, and prepare to be inspired!

 

Fan’s and Artists of Anime, mark this on your calendar!  Anime club is on Oct 25th after school in room 233.  Come share in your love and work on projects for this year.

Anyone interested in playing lacrosse this spring, there is a parent meeting on Tuesday, the 22nd at 7:00pm in the Commons of McNary. Come and meet current and future players as well as get specific information on preparing for the upcoming season."

 

Wrestling his having preseason strength and conditioning practices every Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 2:45 until 3:45.  If you are not already involved in a sport and you are even considering Wrestling this winter, please consider yourself invited to train with us.  Hope to see you there.  Additional wrestling information can be found on the Wrestling reader board outside room 232 (Mr. Ebbs room).  Hope to see you there!

 

Attention all SENIORS:

If you have not passed your State Reading or State Math Test, then you will get your first opportunity starting on Monday, October 21 through Thursday, November 7.  This is your chance to complete up to 2 essential skills work samples.  Remember, 2 Met Work Samples fulfill you graduation requirement.  So, study up, get a good nights rest and don't skip out on breakfast.  Oh, and don't forget to leave all personal belongings, including electronics, in your locker prior to testing.

 

The Connection Center is now hosting after school study sessions in the cafeteria. Come after school everyday from 2:30-3:30 starting come in and you could win free Blazer's tickets, free Jamba Juice and other great prizes. Join college mentors to work on homework and get extra help in your classes.

 

Please send your representative to the student council meeting at this time.  

 

Celtic Announcements for 10/18/13

Help earn $6000 for McNary clubs and activities!  This Saturday at Skyline Ford in Keizer from 9:00-4:00 we need licensed drivers over the age of 18 to come do a QUICK test drive around a special course set-up on the lot and earn $20 for the school.  If we get 300 drivers we will take home $6000 for McNary High.  The whole process can take less than 20 minutes, plus Hot Dogs, Drinks, and Music by DJ MixMatch for you to enjoy.  Please, DO IT!

 

Come help cheer on the Celtic Footballers as they take on the McKay Royal Scotts tonight at home on Flesher field.  Tonight’s theme is Camo Out, so get in your camo gear and come to the Tailgate Party for food, face paint, and music, then head into the game and root our Celts on to Victory.  It’s a good day to be a CELT.

All students who qualify need to get a new lunch pass for the next 6 weeks, they are to come to room 157 and pick them up.  Please remember lunch passes are only awarded to Juniors and Seniors with good grades, attendance and discipline records and can be revoked at anytime for poor social or academic behavior or if the litter in the parking lot is not properly picked up.
