Celtic Announcements for 11/4/14

Good Tuesday Morning McNary!  We are officially half way through the first semester, how are you doing? If you’re doing good, look to help someone around you do better, if you’re struggling, find some help because there are lots of people here who want you to succeed.  

Here’s some news we think you should know...

 

Are you interested in joining the swim team? Come to room 153 at 2:30pm today for an informational meeting and to meet our new coach!

 

Winter Sports Paperwork is now available in the Athletic Office. PAPERWORK DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12th at 3pm. Stop by and see Meridith to get paperwork and make sure your sports physical is current. Winter sports include: Wrestling, Swimming and Basketball.

 

Congratulations to the McNary football team for their awesome win against Sprague on Friday! The Celts defeated the Oly's, 34-33 and advance to the first round of playoffs this Friday at Oregon City. Kickoff is at 7pm. Come support your Celts!

 

ON TO STATE!! The Volleyball team defeated #9 ranked Newberg on Saturday and advance to the State Playoffs! McNary will play at 1:15pm at Hillsboro High School on Friday in the quarterfinals of the State Playoffs. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!

 

The Boys Basketball Team is looking for 2 team managers for the upcoming season.  If you are interested, please see Coach Kirch

Come join the WOU Project Nov 5th , that’s today, after school in the cafeteria. If you have any questions about college or the WOU project. Feel free to ask Mr. Strejc aka Mr. S.Remember Today!

 

The SAT and ACT is a required college entrance exam.  If you are planning or thinking about going to college, you will be taking one or both of these tests in the spring of your junior year.  Do you know which test you will do better on the SAT or the ACT?  On Saturday, November 15th Sprague will be hosting a HYBRID SAT/ACT TEST from 8:30-1:00 PM.  All freshman, sophomores, and juniors are highly encouraged to take this test because the results of this test will tell if you will be more successful on the SAT or ACT.  The test only costs $10 and will give you an idea of what the real testing scenario feels like. You can sign up with the book keeper at McNary  the deadline to sign up at MCNary will be Wednesday November 15 after the 15th you will be asked to pay at Sprague on the day of the test.   If you have any questions, please see your counselor.

 

There will be a dodgeball tournament as a fundraiser for Payton Williams on Saturday, November  15th at 9 AM. Teams must consist of a minimum six players, and two female players must be on the court at all times. Teams also need a designated captain who will relay information to and from the team. Players are to be 13 years or older. Entry fees are $60 per team, with checks being made out to McNary Volleyball. Registration forms and entry fees are due by Friday, November 7th. There will be prizes for the best dressed team, and the tournament champion. We hope to see you out there!

 

The Celtic Shop is open for business.  Located in the commons, the Celtic Shops serves a variety of treats and beverages.  It is open during both lunches, before school on Wednesday, and after school most days until 3pm.  Stop by and grab a juice, a soft pretzel with cheese, or a variety of delicious packaged goods."

 

Come to Study Hall after school from 2:30 to 3:30 every Monday through Thursday! De-stress your life by getting your homework done before you go home, and enjoy free food at the same time! Just sign in with Bridgette Tedrow at the table in front of the cafeteria. See you after school!

 

The Snoball committee is having a dress drive and Formal Wear give-away leading up to the 61st annual Sno Ball.  Formal wear for both boys and girls will be collected here at McNary from now until the end of the month.  If you have a formal dress or other accesories please bring them to room 53 and we will donate them to the cause.  If you have any questions talk to Mr. Heimerdinger or Ubaldo Rojas.  The actual dress give-away will be November 15th, more info on that later.

 

We are still signing up McNary students for the Keizer Community Center clean up day on November 15th.  If you want to earn some Community Service hours and step up to take care of your community then please stop by Mr. Heimerdinger’s room, that’s number 53, to pick up a waiver and sign up for the event.  There will be a lot of McNary blue at the event, so be sure to wear yours and join in.  

 

Do you LOVE doing community service?  Consider joining the 3rd “Almost Annual” Keizer Community Center clean-up on November 15th.  They need at least 60 volunteers who will be trimming bushes and hedges, planting some shrubs and dumping the collected trimmings and leaves into a drop box.  If you have any of the following, please bring them if you can:  Wheelbarrow, Plastic Trash Can, Rake, Broom, Tarp, Pruners, Shovel, etc.  Dress for the weather in long pants, sturdy shoes/boots, gloves, hats, coat, etc.  Restrooms are on site.  Light refreshments provided.  Sign-Up outside room 53 and be sure to pick-up and return the Youth Waiver Form which is due on October 22nd.

 

Do you want to learn to talk without moving your lips or even some wicked cool hand movements then come check out the ASL club Fridays after school in room 208, yes that’s right, it’s changed from Thursdays to Friday, so mark your calendar.

 

Do you love to watch anime or read manga? Do you love cosplay, Japanese music and more? How do you feel about finding others who have the same interests? Excited? Then come down to room 53 on Thursdays after school and join... The Host Club! I mean Anime club.

 

The AWARE Club meets every Tuesday in room 156.  Come join us to help us prevent human trafficking here in Keizer.  Meet us in room 156 at 2:30 to learn what the AWARE Club is doing this year.

 

McNary's Gay-Straight Alliance club meetings will be Wednesdays after school in Mr. Everitt's room, room 258, from 2:30-3:15.  Come join us for fun and friendship, the next meeting is October 8th.

 

Latino club will be meeting on Wednesdays.  If you want to be a part of celebrating Latino culture or just work together on special projects with great students, show up to the meeting and learn more about it.  The club meets Wednesdays in room 144.

 

Do you know someone who has had cancer?  Do you want to help people fight cancer?  Do you want to raise money to fight this terrible disease, have fun, and make a lot of friends too?  If you do, then the Relay for Life Team is for you!!  The Relay for Life Club meets every Wednesday, in room 261 after school.  EVERYONE is welcome to attend!!

 

Seniors your yearbook photos will be due before you know it.  For detailed info about how to submit your senior photos and what the requirements are, please stop by the main office to pick up the senior picture form. Your senior photo is due to the yearbook staff no later than December 5th.

Secondary In-District Transfer Application Window Now Open

Secondary in-district transfer application window now open

Salem-Keizer middle and high school students who wish to attend a school other than their assigned school starting second semester, 2014-15, must submit an in-district transfer request between November 3 and November 26, 2014.

Bus transportation is not provided for students attending school on an in-district transfer. Please visit the Student Transfers page on the district website for complete information: http://www.salemkeizer.org/parents/student-transfers

In-district transfer request forms can be picked up at any school office, and must be completed and returned to the student's assigned school during the application date window. There is no guarantee a transfer request will be approved.

Happy Halloween Celts!  Wherever you go and whatever you do tonight, be safe.  Remember, there are a lot of little people running around on the streets tonight and it's the job of the bigger people, to take care of them.   

 

Somewhere we really need your help is at the football game against Sprague tonight.  Kickoff is at 7:00 so dust off your blue spirit gear and get out to the field and cheer.   

 

Tomorrow our red hot Soccer and Volleyball teams are going to be continuing to play in the post-season in an effort to battle their way into a State Championship match.  Come and watch the Boys Soccer team on Tomorrow at 4:00 as they take on South Medford, this will be one of a very few home field events so make sure to support the team while you can.  The volleyball team plays on Saturday as well.  The girls are taking on Newberg at 6:30 right here in McNary’s gym.  Both of these are OSAA events so ASB cards will not get you in for free.  Each match is $4 for students, but that will be the best $4 you’ve spent in a long time, these teams are HOT!

Here’s some news you need to know...

 

Please be aware that school dress code policy still applies tomorrow.  You may dress as you’d like, but if your outfit distracts other students from learning, is immodest, or depicts innapropriate subject matter then you could be asked to change before continuing your school day.  Also remember, masks and weapons are never allowed, either real or replicas, so be smart and safe tomorrow.

The Snoball committee is having a dress drive and Formal Wear give-away leading up to the 61st annual Sno Ball.  Formal wear for both boys and girls will be collected here at McNary from now until the end of the month.  If you have a formal dress or other accesories please bring them to room 53 and we will donate them to the cause.  If you have any questions talk to Mr. Heimerdinger or Ubaldo Rojas.  The actual dress give-away will be November 15th, more info on that later.

 

We are still signing up McNary students for the Keizer Community Center clean up day on November 15th.  If you want to earn some Community Service hours and step up to take care of your community then please stop by Mr. Heimerdinger’s room, that’s number 53, to pick up a waiver and sign up for the event.  There will be a lot of McNary blue at the event, so be sure to wear yours and join in.  

 

Do you LOVE doing community service?  Consider joining the 3rd “Almost Annual” Keizer Community Center clean-up on November 15th.  They need at least 60 volunteers who will be trimming bushes and hedges, planting some shrubs and dumping the collected trimmings and leaves into a drop box.  If you have any of the following, please bring them if you can:  Wheelbarrow, Plastic Trash Can, Rake, Broom, Tarp, Pruners, Shovel, etc.  Dress for the weather in long pants, sturdy shoes/boots, gloves, hats, coat, etc.  Restrooms are on site.  Light refreshments provided.  Sign-Up outside room 53 and be sure to pick-up and return the Youth Waiver Form which is due on October 22nd.

 

Do you want to learn to talk without moving your lips or even some wicked cool hand movements then come check out the ASL club Fridays after school in room 208, yes that’s right, it’s changed from Thursdays to Friday, so mark your calendar.

 

Do you love to watch anime or read manga? Do you love cosplay, Japanese music and more? How do you feel about finding others who have the same interests? Excited? Then come down to room 53 on Thursdays after school and join... The Host Club! I mean Anime club.

 

The AWARE Club meets every Tuesday in room 156.  Come join us to help us prevent human trafficking here in Keizer.  Meet us in room 156 at 2:30 to learn what the AWARE Club is doing this year.

 

McNary's Gay-Straight Alliance club meetings will be Wednesdays after school in Mr. Everitt's room, room 258, from 2:30-3:15.  Come join us for fun and friendship, the next meeting is October 8th.

 

Latino club will be meeting on Wednesdays.  If you want to be a part of celebrating Latino culture or just work together on special projects with great students, show up to the meeting and learn more about it.  The club meets Wednesdays in room 144.

 

Do you know someone who has had cancer?  Do you want to help people fight cancer?  Do you want to raise money to fight this terrible disease, have fun, and make a lot of friends too?  If you do, then the Relay for Life Team is for you!!  The Relay for Life Club meets every Wednesday, in room 261 after school.  EVERYONE is welcome to attend!!

 

Seniors your yearbook photos will be due before you know it.  For detailed info about how to submit your senior photos and what the requirements are, please stop by the main office to pick up the senior picture form. Your senior photo is due to the yearbook staff no later than December 5th.

Good morning Celts, and welcome to week 9 of the 2014 -2015 school year.  I hope you came into the building today and felt like all your friends were waiting for you, because they were, welcome back.  

 

Here’s some news you need to know...

 

Dance tryouts will be in the dance room and all practice Wednesday, the 29th from 7-9pm. This is the last day to join for the year!

 

The McNary Volleyball Team will host Gresham tomorrow at 6:30pm in the first round of the OSAA state playoffs. The cost for students is $4, no ASB cards or passes are allowed. Come support your lady Celts!

 

Do you want to go to college? Do want free money to go to college? Do you need help with filling out college applications? Do you have questions about the FASFA? Come join the WOU Project Nov 5th after school in the cafeteria. If you have any questions about college or the WOU project. Feel free to ask Mr. Strejc aka Mr. S.  Remember Nov 5th!

 

The SAT and ACT is a required college entrance exam.  If you are planning or thinking about going to college, you will be taking one or both of these tests in the spring of your junior year.  Do you know which test you will do better on the SAT or the ACT?  On Saturday, November 15th Sprague will be hosting a HYBRID SAT/ACT TEST from 8:30-1:00 PM.  All freshman, sophomores, and juniors are highly encouraged to take this test because the results of this test will tell if you will be more successful on the SAT or ACT.  The test only costs $10 and will give you an idea of what the real testing scenario feels like. You can sign up with the book keeper at McNary  the deadline to sign up at MCNary will be Wednesday November 15 after the 15th you will be asked to pay at Sprague on the day of the test.   If you have any questions, please see your counselor.

Come, cheer and support on your boys varsity soccer team on Saturday Nov 1st for their playoff game times to be announced soon.

 

There will be a dodgeball tournament as a fundraiser for Payton Williams on Saturday, November  15th at 9 AM. Teams must consist of a minimum six players, and two female players must be on the court at all times. Teams also need a designated captain who will relay information to and from the team. Players are to be 13 years or older. Entry fees are $60 per team, with checks being made out to McNary Volleyball. Registration forms and entry fees are due by Friday, November 7th. There will be prizes for the best dressed team, and the tournament champion. We hope to see you out there!

 

The Celtic Shop will be opening soon.  The Celtic shop is located in the commons directly across the way from the main office.  We will be open during both lunches, Wednesday morning before school and after school Monday through Thursday.  SOON you will be able to buy a variety of snacks and beverages.  Celtic Strong, Snack On!

 

Come to Study Hall after school from 2:30 to 3:30 every Monday through Thursday! De-stress your life by getting your homework done before you go home, and enjoy free food at the same time! Just sign in with Bridgette Tedrow at the table in front of the cafeteria. See you after school!
