Bilingual teacher program
While McNary had a lot of visits from colleges, Western Oregon University (WOU) has an opportunity for those students who are bilingual that speak spanish and english, and are also interested in being a teacher of any grade. Part of the reason WOU is doing this program is because some districts around oregon are in a huge need of bilingual teachers to teach. The benefits of doing this program is giving those students a generous scholarship support, during this program there will be supervisors, giving them extra support and mentoring for success while completing this program. After you complete the program, WOU will give you a three year commitment into teaching in the district you are desire to teach in, along with a masters degree. The requirements in order to apply and be part of this program are: you will need to be able to speak, write, and read english/spanish, submit a financial aid form ,and be able to turn in the application ontime. Last but not least you will also need to be able to work in the United States. If you aren’t interested on going to WOU in you first or two years but want to be part of this program the only possible way you can get in is if you go to Chemeketa Community College and then you can transfer to WOU. Since the deadline for seniors is already past due, this can also be a big heads ups for the juniors and others; “ Please, keep your eyes and ears open for the spring” said Nonie Reyes, a McNary counselor who is in charge and willing to help you for any further questions you might have.
