Advisory classes deck the halls

December 13, 2017 By:MHS Piper

Story and photos by Nikki Johnson

The halls of McNary have taken on a festive spirit this week, thanks to the efforts of all of the advisory classes.

On Friday, December 8, all advisory classes decorated their classroom doors as a group activity to foster teamwork and school pride.

Advisory class is a new requirement this year for all students. It focuses on college and career readiness, and provides a place where all students can connect with each other and a caring teacher who can help each student navigate the four years of high school.

Below are some of the advisory class efforts.

Social Studies teacher Mr. Jordan Graneto is standing next to his advisory decorated door. The biggest challenge he faced was time, but everyone in his advisory participated and wanted to help, he said.

Social studies teacher Mrs. Elisabeth Sonis stands with her minions. Her biggest challenge was time as well, but everyone wanted to participate.

Science teacher Mrs. Mandy Elder and her student aid shine bright with her Christmas tree of students. The administration helped by supplying the supplies, which she said were a big help. Next time she wants more glitter, she said.

Science teacher Miss Macy Merwin is warm and comfy next to her advisory class fire place. Her biggest challenge was getting everyone on the same page, but putting everything together and the creativity came naturally.
