On Monday, May 20 teachers received notes for students with a grade average of 50-59.9% grade in their class. These notes will be attached to missing work that gives the student an opportunity to raise their grade up. The note will have the students name and the grade percentage that they have in the class.
This is supposed to be a positive reinforcement experiment. We are nearing the end of the year and this gives students another chance to bring their grade up to at least a passing grade. From a students point of view, grades are a struggle to maintain so this is definitely something that the student will appreciate getting help with.
Lauren Murphy a student who received a note said “I think it would have been very helpful of my teacher had attached my assignments to it… but overall I think it’s a good idea and can be very helpful”
These cards do have good intentions. They show students that the teachers and administration wants them to succeed.
